These extensions may only be used by organizations that fit certain requirements. Like for certified educational institutions are allowed to use the .edu domain extension, the .gov extension are used by government.
Country Code Domain Extensions
Many countries have their own two-letter domain extension to signify the organization’s location. Like .in is used for India, .us is used for United States, .uk is used for United Kingdom and many more.
